Indian Share Market Tips for Tommorow – 07^th January 2012

Despite weakness in Europe, the markets managed to close with moderate gains with realty being the lead gainer. Capital goods and metal, too, did well in today's session and oil & gas and healthcare were the only two sectors that closed in the red. The Sensex closed at 17707, up 102 points from its previous close, and the Nifty shut shop at 5362, up 36 points. The CNX Midcap index closed with 1.5% gain while the BSE Smallcap index was also up 1.5% in today's trade. The market breadth was positive with advances at 861 against declines of 411 on the NSE. The top Nifty gainers were ACC, Ambuja Cements, Siemens and Cairn while the biggest losers included Tata Power, HUL, Sun Pharma and Dr Reddy's.

Indian equities dropped on Monday erasing earlier gains. At 3.07 pm, the Sensex was trading down 337.24 points or 1.96% at 16,896.74 with 25 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 104.45 points or 2.01% at 5,100.25 with 42 components falling.

Todays Top Gainers in the 30-share index were Sun PharmaceuticalIndustries (1.34%), Jindal Steel & Power (0.74%), Hero Honda Motors (0.46%), Bajaj Auto (0.37%), and Tata ConsultancyServices (0.14%).

Todays Top Losers were Bharat Heavy Electricals (9.87%), SterliteIndustries (India) (6.12%), Hindalco Industries (4.67%), Mahindra & Mahindra (4.61%), Larsen & Toubro (4.57%), and Bharti Airtel (4.46%).
