Today's Market : Stock prices rose sharply on the major Indian bourses and lifted the benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty to their best closing levels in a month, as investors indulged in some hectic buying almost across the board, tracking strong global cues.Besides the firm trend in Asian and European markets, the government's nod to certain key FDI proposals, the decision of Moody's to revise upward the India's foreign currency rating to investment grade and expectations of a rate cut contributed to the market's rally on Tuesday. Reports that state governments have given their in-principle approval to a proposed national goods and service tax, and a few stock specific stories too aided sentiment to a notable extent. The Sensex, which vaulted to 16,180.97 during the closing minutes, ended at 16,165.09 with a handsome gain of 350.37 points or 2.22%. The Nifty settled at 4849.55, slightly off the day's high of 4855.90, recording a gain of 106.75 points or 2.25%. Both Sensex and Nifty recorded their best closing levels since 12 December 2011.
