Todays NSE, BSE special trading session closing report -07th January 2012

Today Trading opened for two hours to 1.05 pm for a special session on Bombay Stock Exchange and NationalStock Exchange. NSE is testing upgradation of systems in the derivatives trading segment. Trading is open on BSE to maintain price harmony.
The Indian markets were flat and subdued during this special 90-minute session of trade and closed in the red with marginal losses. The broader markets, however, traded with a positive bias. Sensex shut shop at 15848, down 18 points and Nifty at 4746, down 7 points from the previous close. CNX Midcap index was up 0.5% and BSE Smallcap index was up 1%. The market breadth was positive with advances at 845 against declines of 338 on the NSE. Top Nifty gainers were Maruti Suzuki, GAIL and Ranbaxy while losers included Jaiprakash Associates, Kotak Mahindra Bank and ICICI Bank.
